Well as dogs shouldn’t be drinking alcohol, and especially should not be drinking spirits so at least they won’t get a violent headache. Yes, I have taken metronidaole, yes I forgot and drank one measure of rum at a birthday lunchtime drink (this was back in the 80’s when one did drink at luchtime on occasion), and yes, I had to go home with a severe headache and flushing. I didn’t make that mistake again, despite being on metronidazole on and off for over a third of a year.

My 12 year old dog was prescribed Metronidazole and Fortiflora for ongoing soft/watery stools lasting about a month. The only test that was run was a decal, and that was dropped off because the vet said soft/watery stools alone was not enough to have to be seen. I’d already been giving her Fortiflora for a week. I don’t know what to do. At this age do I go ahead and risk giving the Metronidazole? Seek a second opinion? I am not at all opposed to more testing and would actually prefer that. Agonizing over what to do.

Maybe Pro-Pectalin is the better alternative for “they want to go home with something”?
